The project activities were planned, to enable learning access and participation for 200 children in five (5) affected crisis communities of Kumbo, Bui Division, North West Region, Cameroon. 200 children were envisaged under the current project as direct project beneficiaries. Owed to the increase number of out of school children in the beneficiary communities, the project registered an increase number of 185 children (indirect beneficiaries), raising the total number of children undertaking learning to 385. This rated the project’s participation and success to above 100%. The project registered 192.5% classroom participation.
The enthusiasm demonstrated by the children to continue with learning was very motivating. Classroom activities were well scheduled in levels to accommodate the increase number. At some point, we had two classes’ 2 and 3 in different blocks, to accommodate the increase number of children. After the classroom works, assessments were carried out with the different beneficiaries in the final class (class 6) and for the lower classes (Classes 1 – 5).
A total of 105 children (59 direct and 46 indirect beneficiaries), out of the total number of 385 beneficiaries were registered to undertake the ‘First School Leaving Certificate’ and the ‘Common Entrance Examinations. The anticipated examination dates has been scheduled in the months ahead by the Ministry of Basic Education, to permit the children continue with higher learning.
This rated the project’s participation and success to above 100%. The project registered 192.5% classroom participation.
Ahead of this examinations, the Regional pre-mock examinations have been carried out with the children, they registered a 97.6% success. Classroom examinations were also carried out with 280 children who are not in the examination/final classes. Out of the 280 children assessed, 235 performed well in classroom activities giving an 83.93%,
